What is "Stand Alone Toll Free"?
As mentioned in our article "How toll free works" it usually your long distance service provider (ICX) that handles you toll free service. Most ICX's do not offer toll free service separate. You need to have your long distance service with them in order to have a toll free number.
Most of the time this isn't a problem. Since most carriers also offer 800 services there is a good chance that you can get the service and find a carrier that can lower you regular out bound long distance costs as well. A win-win situation.
But there are times when you might not want to change long distance carriers or you might not be able to at all.
